Kendrick Lamar Wins Song of the Year for “Not Like Us” at the 2025 GRAMMYs! 🎶🏆

Kendrick Lamar Wins Grammy for ‘Not Like Us’ in Historic Night for Compton

In a night filled with electrifying performances and emotional moments, Kendrick Lamar took home a Grammy Award for his song Not Like Us, a track that has captivated audiences worldwide. The prestigious award, determined by the 13,000 voting members of the Recording Academy, was met with thunderous applause as Lamar took the stage to deliver an impassioned speech.

The Compton-born rapper, known for his powerful lyricism and cultural impact, embraced the moment, acknowledging his roots and the significance of the win. “This is for Compton, straight up! Me and him, both from Compton—you know what I’m saying? Compton High School, Compton College, all that,” Lamar exclaimed, reinforcing his deep connection to his hometown.

Lamar, a multiple Grammy Award-winning artist, dedicated his win to his family, including his mother, father, sister, and six-year-old son. “I know my mama’s out there, my mom and pop doing front flips on the couch right now,” he said with a smile. Addressing his young son directly, he added, “Go to sleep, it’s past your bedtime right now.”

The rapper also made a heartfelt nod to his longtime supporters and collaborators, shouting out fellow artists who have influenced his journey. “All the West Coast artists, man—early on, G Malone, Problem, Bad Luck, K Booy, Daylyt, Mike Stro—these are the cats that inspired me to be the MC I am today. Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul—this is what it’s about,” he said, emphasizing the enduring impact of hip-hop culture.

As Lamar wrapped up his speech, he left a powerful message for the next generation of artists. “At the end of the day, nothing is more powerful than rap music. I don’t care what it is—we are the culture that’s going to always stay here and live forever. To the young artists, like my man Punch says, I just hope you respect the art form. That’s all. Respect the art form, and it’ll get you where you need to go.”

The win adds yet another milestone to Lamar’s already illustrious career, reaffirming his status as one of the most influential voices in hip-hop. His latest track, Not Like Us, has dominated the charts and resonated with audiences worldwide, cementing his legacy as a defining artist of his generation.

With a career marked by critical acclaim and cultural significance, Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy victory stands as a testament to his artistry and the enduring power of rap music.
