“Federal Employees: Report or Resign – A Critical Decision”

Elon Musk Orders Federal Employees to Justify Their Jobs or Resign

Washington, D.C. – The fallout continues from the Trump administration’s sweeping purge of federal workers, with a new directive sparking further outrage. Federal employees must now document what they did at work last week or risk being forced to resign, a move that has been described as both necessary reform and cruel overreach.

Musk’s Directive Sparks Controversy

The latest demand comes directly from Elon Musk, who now heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump. In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk stated:

“Federal workers must explain what they did last week or resign.”

This announcement came shortly after Trump posted on Truth Social, urging Musk to “get more aggressive” in the government’s restructuring efforts. The directive has left many federal employees stunned and fearful for their jobs.

Trump Defends Firings: “We Want the Best People”

Speaking at the National Harbor, President Donald Trump doubled down on his administration’s mass terminations, calling it an essential step in reducing government waste.

“We’re removing all of the unnecessary, incompetent, and corrupt bureaucrats from the federal workforce. More than 75,000 federal workers have voluntarily surrendered their taxpayer-funded jobs under our buyout offers. We want a smaller, more efficient government, and we want to keep only the best people.”

The administration insists that the restructuring is not about political retaliation but about efficiency. However, critics argue that the approach is overly aggressive and destabilizing.

Federal Employees Express Fear and Frustration

In the past 24 hours, reports have surfaced of HR departments emailing employees, demanding they submit five bullet points outlining their work from last week. While the emails do not explicitly threaten termination, many workers say the implication is clear—justify your job or risk losing it.

One anonymous federal worker shared their frustration:

“This is humiliating. We have dedicated years to public service, and now we’re being forced to prove our worth as if we haven’t been doing our jobs all along.”

A Divisive Move: Necessary Reform or Government Overreach?

Reactions to Musk’s directive have been deeply divided.

✔️ Supporters argue that government bloat needs to be cut, and forcing employees to demonstrate productivity is a long-overdue reform.
❌ Critics, however, describe the move as “cruel and unusual”, warning that such drastic cuts could harm essential public services.

With thousands of federal jobs already eliminated and more terminations expected, the future of the U.S. government workforce is uncertain.
